A singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer and actress, FKA Twigs has made waves in the music industry. She has used her platform to fight invisible forces of oppression and speak up about dealing with the experience of being Black and British in the modern world.

JOY CROOKES

Joy Crookes is an English singer-songwriter who incorporates details about relationships, self-reliance, her culture, South London roots and identity in her music. The 22-year-old has voiced her anger at certain injustices and topics such as gentrification, racism, xenophobia, Brexit and feminism.

JORJA SMITH

A singer-songwriter and playwright, Jorja Smith’s streetwise yet heartfelt R&B music touches on important worldwide issues. She wrote and performed a song inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests which was a celebration of Black Britain and diversity, a call to social justice and unity.

Receiving numerous music awards and accolades, Mabel is an effortless storyteller with a pure singing talent who also possesses strong songwriting skills. She has show support to the Black Lives Matter movement and has spoken openly about anxiety, growing into a very positive role model.

MNEK is a singer, songwriter, and producer who has worked with a wide spectrum of pop, dance, and R&B artists, in addition to achieving chart success on his own. The 26-year-old is a voice for the communities he represents.

After starting out writing music at just 11, Ms Banks is a powerful hip hop artist in her own right while also having worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj. She has proved that you don’t need to fit stereotypes to be counted and is someone who empowers women around the world.

YOUNG T AND BUGSEY

Having met at age 15, Young T & Bugsey became aware of each other first as part of a collective before zeroing in on their chemistry as a hip hop duo. They quickly found themselves to be on a similar level and have spoken out about the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement, expressing the struggles faced yet keeping optimistic about the future.

ZAYN MALIK

As part of One Direction, Zayn Malik starred in one of the biggest boy bands of all time. The singer-songwriter then went on to launch a stellar solo career and has spoken out about discrimination, using his platform to support the Black Lives Matter movement too.
