Supporting Diverse Thinking in the Workplace

Fusion at Macquarie was established in 2017. With an active membership of ~20% of the London office, Fusion seeks to connect and engage colleagues of different race, ethnicity, culture and faith.

By understanding how history, race, ethnicity and culture shapes each of us, Fusion aims to promote a workplace that supports different ways of thinking. It does this by:

  • Creating an environment wherein staff can embrace and understand their own and others’ histories and cultures
  • Driving and influencing change to improve our workplace policies and practices
  • Educating and raising staff awareness on issues unique to BAME professionals
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive workplace to enable all employees, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture or faith, to realise their full potential, contribute ideas and pursue successful careers.

Macquarie understands the importance of diversity and inclusion and looks forward to being part of the Investing in Ethnicity initiative.

The network arranges events year round to educate and raise awareness. Some of our recent successes have been Celebrating Black History Month with authors Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinen, Nicola Adams (Olympic Gold Medal winning boxer) and Chinese New Year business blessing and lion dance celebration.

Fusion also collaborates with the other Macquarie employee network groups on the wider Diversity and Inclusion agenda, with a focus on intersectionality, in particular between BAME, Gender equality and LGBTQ+ matters.
